Dress Code: Old Shanghai Aesthetic

FAQ

Woah - that photo! Is this a sex party?

Nope! Seductive photos are the vibe, but save the shenanigans for after the party.

Is the dress code enforced?

Ruthlessly. Those not attired in Old Shanghai aesthetic will be refused entry.

What about cultural appropriation?!

It's not 2020 anymore. Our Chinese co-hosts will be honored if you help celebrate their culture.

I can't wear a Qipao. I'm concerned about my future political career.

If you are an upstanding progressive with a reputation to uphold and cannot wear anything Qipao-like, a 1920s ballroom gown will suffice. Don't go full-flapper (this is Shanghai, not Chicago).

Who is organizing this?

Someone you know knows.

Where is this?

In a secret location in the Mission. You'll get instructions for how to enter the party on March 29th. It's a little involved.

Can I arrive late?

No. You will be instructed to meet a man between 8pm and 8:45pm. If you show up after 9pm, he won't be there.

Can I bring a friend?

Only if they RSVP. Space is limited.

Is this a normal party?

This is not your typical "let's shout at each other over the DJ" party. We're striving to create a unique experience - whimsical, serendipitous, and fostering authentic conversations.

We hope to surprise you.
